I am very pleased with the result of this oven baked ‘Sweet And Sour Pork Ribs’ recipe. You must give it a go. It is simple and easy to prepare. It’s finger licking good! Voila!
Ingredients
- 1.6 kg pork ribs
- 4 tbsp clear honey
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Chinese five spice powder
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 1/2 tbsp dry sherry( I used Shaoxing Wine)
- 1 tsp chilli sauce
- 2 garlic cloves peeled and chopped
- 1 1/2 tbsp tomato puree
- 1 tsp dry mustard powder(optional)
- spring onion curls for garnish
Method
Preheat oven to 200C 15 minutes before cooking.
Place the ribs in a shallow dish in a single layer.
Spoon honey, the Worcestershire sauce,Chinese five spice with the soy sauce, sherry and chilli sauce into a small saucepan and heat gently, stirring until smooth.
Stir in the chopped garlic, the tomato puree and mustard powder, if using.
Pour the honey mixture over the ribs and spoon over until the ribs are coated evenly.
Cover with clingfilm and leave to marinate overnight in the refrigerator, occasionally spooning the marinade over the ribs. When ready to cook, remove the ribs from the marinade and place in a shallow roasting pan.
Spoon over a little of the marinde and reserve the remainder.
Place the pork ribs in the preheated oven and cook for 35-40 minutes, or until cooked and the outsides are crisp.
Base occasionally with the reserved marinade during cooking. Garnish with a few spring onion curls and serve immediately, either as a starter or as a meat accompaniment. Voila!
