Image
ImageI am always fascinated by Korean culture and the people. I am also an enthusiast at collecting Korean Chest for my home decor. Its dramas and television shows are very enjoyable indeed. But I had no idea Korean food can be so simple, colorful and captivating. I can even cook Korean any day now. Awesome!

I wanna thank Maangchi for this recipe which served my family yet another enticing meal. This is my version and quick recap of the Sweet Crispy Chicky Wings.

Serves 4

Ingredients Mix for preparing Chicken

  • 12 chicken wings ( cut into 3 parts, discard the end tips ), wash and drain, pat dry
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup tapioca starch

Combine all the above ingredients in a mixing bowl. Leave it to marinate for about 20 minutes.

Heat up vegetable oil enough to cover the wings. Deep fry twice. Set aside.

Sauce for coating the Chicken

  • 1/2 tbsp chilli flakes
  • 1 cup roasted nuts ( any nuts )
  • 1/2 cup toasted sesame seeds
  1. Prepare a big wok and heat up 1 cup of water.
  2. Add 1 cup of sliced ginger, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup vinegar into the boiling water for 5 minutes. Lower the heat to medium at this point.
  3. Then add in 1 cup corn syrup and bring to boil at low medium heat till it becomes very sticky. Reheat the sauce. Add in the deep fried chicken.
  4. Add in the roasted nuts , chilli flakes  and toasted sesame seeds into the sizzling  sauce and give a mix. Tuck in! Voila!

The measurements for sauce in this recipe is adequate for this amount of chicken wings.
