My family loves this noodle dish any time.It is one of our comfort food and serves us for many decades now . It consists of bee hoon, cabbage or bean sprouts, stew pork(you can find those in cans from chinese grocery)or shredded braised lean pork( or even luncheon meat from cans ) , soy sauce, salt and pepper, easy and simple to prepare.
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 400g bee hoon, soaked in water till fully constituted, rinse in cold running water and drained
- 2 whole cloves garlic
- 2 shallots, sliced
- 2 cups shredded cabbage or bean sprouts
- 2 cans shredded stew pork(Gulong brand,discard fats, retain sauce) or 2 cups lean pork shredded,(char siew)
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 fresh red chilli. sliced (optional)
- salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 100ml water, more if needed
Method
- Heat oil in wok and add in the garlic and shallots. Saute till fragrant, remove the garlic, add in the shredded meat and stir fry for 2 minutes till aromatic. Add in soy sauce, sauce from the can, cabbage, and continue to stir fry till contents well combined.
- Put in the noodles, cut chillies,water and toss all the contents until well combined. Add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh coriander. Serve. Voila!
