Yummy Steamed Yam cake

This afternoon I steamed this yummy cake with simple ingredients like yam(in season) dried shrimps, mushrooms, Chinese sausages, rice flour for batter and lots of fried shallots.

It is also one of my late mom’s specialties and even though her recipe was a simple one without mushrooms and Chinese sausages, it already tasted so good.

Firstly, fry the cubed yam till soften then add in some fried shallots, five spice and salt to combine and set aside.

In the same pan, fry the chopped sausages, dried shrimps and chopped mushrooms till they release fragrance then add in the yam to combine.

Form a batter with some water and rice flour in a heated pan. When the batter slightly thickens, add in the yam mixture. Stir to combine. Transfer to a baking tin.

Steam in a deep pan for 45 mins and it s ready when the skewers comes out clean. Garnish with some cut chillies,spring onions and dried shallots. Happy Days!
