We were chatting about the good old days how we love the original donuts compared to today’s. We still prefer the ones with sweet potato and coats with lots of sugar. We would always refer the plain and sweet potato donuts as the old fashioned ones…
I made these the first time just over the weekend and it s just plain donuts without sweet potato though as it was a last minute to make them. I will remember to keep the heat down the next time!
Similarly, flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, egg yolk, yeast and milk are added and mixed to form a dough. Lastly butter is added for the final kneading into a soft dough and rested for an hour.
The dough is divided into small portions like balls and shaped into donuts and proof a second time.
Donuts dough are deep fried in 160’C cooking oil heated in a deep wok. Yum, sweet and crunchy!
Happy Days!!
